Devlog: Our death system.


Hello and welcome, to our first devlog for dreadheart. We are going to make the devlogs, into different categories with some main topics, about the game and dive into that specific topic, to explain how it works in Dreadheart.

Dreadhearts Death System:

When we began working on dreadheart one of the main, issues that we needed to figure out, was of cause the death of the player. Because it's a main part of the game. 

We of course looked towards other games, and how they dealt with the problem, there we did get a lot of good ideas and we have been trying some out, but at the end we ended up with the system we got right now, and are happy to use.

This is the screen that will pop up when ever your player is dead, and then we got a system of choice to where you the player can choose, just to return back to the home base, then you lose the dungeon level but your loot, gold, etc. are coming with you back.

or you can pay a gold amount to get the gods to put back your soul, but for the player not to use this function constantly, the amount of gold will rise by every use. 

When your soul is going back into your body, there comes this soul flash that kills of anything in the same room as you, so that the player is ready to venture forth into the dungeon.

Remember that this is still WIP, and changes will still be made but the foundation is in place and we like how it works.
